Jump In Indecency Complaints In Q4

A racy opening sequence to the Nov. 14, 2004 edition of ABC-TV's Monday Night Football sent the number of indecency complaints the FCC received during the last three months of 2004 up to 317,833 — including 190,805 in November alone. After a summer where the number of complaints dropped off precipitously, the scene that featured towel-clad actress Nicolette Sheridan dropping her towel and jumping into the arms of Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver Terrell Owens raised the ire of many activists and viewers. Only a portion of Sheridan's back was exposed. In Q3 the number of indecency complaints filed in July and August combined was below 2,000, but the number jumped up to over 119,000 each in both September and October. The numbers trailed off again in December, totaling 7,243.
