HOT97 management head must roll too...

After the worldwide HOT97 Tsunami parody song fiasco management still does not get it. Miss Jones and the morning crew might have wrote and produced the song but no doubt about it the PD approved it. For four straight days the Miss Jones morning show played there futile attempt at humor. Do you think the PD or GM was not aware of the content? Please tell Rick Cummings the corporate radio brain from Emmis to stop pointing one finger. The PD must go down with the morning crew ship! Then again Barry Mayo the NY market VP/GM should also be on blast. One day blame it on Miss Jones. Two days blame it on the morning team. Three days blame it on the newly highered PD. Four days of that Tsunami parody Emmis Broadcasting should be questioning their highest ranking person of color Barry Mayo.

Most of all please HOT97 tell us what system of checks and balances do you have for your next blunder? You have a history of suspended air talent, are you really trying to correct the problem?

HOT 97 Tsunami

Wow. Looks like HOT 97 gets the award for management miscue... The now world famous song parody of the Tsunami tragedy needs immediate attention. After four days of playing this tasteless piece during Miss Jones morning drive show management finally pulled the plug. The shame of the matter is that management did not get involved sooner. Look for EMMIS VP Barry Mayo to try his best to sweep this one under the rug without casualties. The newly acquired PD obviously lacks common sense to let this major blunder occur four days in a row. Mayo claims the morning team will donate a week's pay to the Tsunami fund. Mmmmm seems like the company stand of zero tolerance stands only for the breast of Janet Jackson. Heads must roll!

BET is there more than 106 & Park?

Maybe it is time for VP of programming to step down. Almost 5 years since Stephen Hill's start at BET 106& Park continues to be it at the network. Hill a longtime MTV music executive came to BET with the high regard. You name it he smiled his way thru Brown University then danced to the voice of MTV brass. Many call Stephen Hill the OJ Simpson of cable TV. Over the last 5 years 106 & Park and BET's Uncut and UnCensored have been Hill's highlights and lowlight's in a nutshell. Maybe Viacom will finally focus in making BET a creative force like MTV and VH1. BET employee's continue to be highly underpaid. There BET awards show is run entirely by a free lance staff that insures the credibility that the show deserves. How about the network?

New York Radio

New York radio remains a bit soft. Think about it WBLS has been cruising following WRKS, HOT 97 and Power 105 for over a year in the ratings. In comes new BLS GM Deion straight from Indiana then boom the big changes. Rick Party morning man at the time calls Deion or PD Vinny Brown "A Porch Negro" two weeks later he is gone. Paul Mooney morning show steps in and now Wendy wants out of the building.

Power 105 is going hard at Barry Mayo radio HOT 97 with Star and Buc while 98.7 Kiss FM continues to play fatigued hits on top of the ratings. Don't get the number ome market confused for number one programming minds. WRKS programmers are home grown but nice. HOT's new PD has the Urban background of Milli Vanilli. WBLS and Vinny Brown have fired 2 complete air staffs with no results maybe Vinny is next. Michael Saunders at Power has multi market experience and still programs with a open mind and a close fist.

Wendy Williams

Wendy Williams at WBLS is fuming over management and there change to full time Urban AC. Wendy wants out of the building to deliver her show nationwide in peace. Williams show has been getting a consistent ass whipping in NY from WRKS and Michael Baisden.
